Well wouldn’t you know it! Another big change in the world of Internet Marketing. I just can’t keep up anymore, all the changes in Google, FTC, Marketing, and now Facebook is stepping up to the plate. This is a big one. Now I’m not even referring to the new time line changes they are forcing down everybody’s throat. That’s a different post all together. I’m talking about the Fan Gates that most of the Internet Marketers have set up on their fan pages. Just when marketers figured out how to monetize from Facebook, they decided to pull the carpet out from underneath us. In a few days, you guys are going to see the fan gates go bye-bye.
If you’re not familiar with the Fan gates, so surf around on Facebook, but you’ve only got a few days to do it. They have been set up so that when you click the “LIKE” button then the entrance to the fan page would appear. Well not no more, kiss that little tactic good-bye. Another famous technique is the landing page that is on the fan gate.
The typical setup, is when somebody likes your page they are then allowed in the actual fan page. Once they “LIKE” your page they are then redirected to a landing page or more commonly known as a squeeze page. You guys have all seen this right? Then they give something of value to you, in exchange for your name and email. So they were doing two things at once, they were building up their list in Facebook so they could contact you, and then they were building up their list in their autoresponder.
Well not no more, Facebook is putting a stop to it!
Now you guys already know that I absolutely HATE Facebook with a passion. Yes I have a fanpage, but it’s just so that I can say I have one. I don’t do anything with it. It updates posts automatically from my main site. I’m not even sure where
my fans came from. I can tell you this, I refused to get involved with the whole fan gate thing. I didn’t approve of the tactic from the start, and figured it would just be a matter of time before it is gone!
The Internet Is Killing Traditional Internet Marketing!
They will BAN you account. Now we have Facebook stepping in saying, “Nope, we aren’t liking this at all”. Throw in all the changes we’ve seen with Google lately, and I would say their is a “War on the World of Internet Marketing.”Guy’s I’ve written about this several times. The writing is on the wall. Do you see how traditional “Internet Marketing” is being pushed out the door? Looks at the changes with Google, and their above the fold rule. What did that do? That is killing banners. What is Google’s stance with squeeze pages? They are dead. Try to get PPC campaign approved with a squeeze page, I’ll tell you what happens, it was on of the first posts I wrote for this blog.
Wouldn’t you Agree?
So what does this mean? Well like so many of the other posts I have written lately, it means you better not “put all your eggs in one basket.” Stop relying on Google, Facebook, YouTube, and all those other sites for your monetization. Just because traditional Internet Marketing is on its last leg, does not mean you can not make money from the Internet. I’m here to tell you, as long as people are searching for problems, solutions, and information on the Internet, you can monetize one way or another. I promise you, until the FTC passes some crazy rule that says there will no longer be sales on the internet, you will be able to make a profit.
So why are people using these sites for monetization? Isn’t it obvious? It’s all about Traffic. Every single one of these sites, there greatest asset in the traffic and visitors. Take away that and what do you have left? You have an empty web site like the rest of the sites around the world.
So What Options Do You Have?
I was watching a conversation the other day, where somebody claimed to be making $1900 from signing up for multiple Pinterest accounts, and then flooding those accounts with affiliate links. Well the people over there at Pinterest are not stupid, they caught onto this. However, the ideas was this guys was posting thousands of links all at once, so it took a while before Pinterest could nail him. The reminds me a couple of years ago, back in the Russel Brunson DarkSecrets Course. They were showing you how you could target certain keywords in Twitter Trends, and could stuff them with affiliate links.
Guys, this stuff isn’t cool. You’re not going to make very much money, and this is definitely not what I refer to as Internet Marketing. Those tactics aren’t helping anybody. Why not treat this as a business instead. Start building your

The Power Series
foundation. I wrote a post the other day that gave you some great ideas, the same things I am focusing on. You can make good money from these ideas, and you can help people at the same time.
I wasn’t going to mention it, but it seems to fit in here perfectly. I’ve teamed with Sean Donahoe, and we are creating some courses, to teach people how to build a real business online. We don’t teach gimmicks, one-click-wonders, or loopholes. Instead we teach methods that are going to help you build an income for the life of the Internet. The first couple courses were such a success with our beta testers that we decided to create a five course series called the “Power Series.” These course are going to be primarily sold from the stage, and webinars but I will see what I can do to let me readers in on them also.
Let me conclude with this. Before you go off and buy some awesome WSO, or Clickbank product that is using one of those eggs for manipulation, you better stop and think. What was the original intention with this site. If they are teaching you tips, strategies and resources that were not the original intentions of that site, then you are wasting your money. Quit playing their stupid little games, and start building yourself up a real business.

Part of marketing is competition it is not surprising about this war issue in the internet marketing
world. Your team seems very interesting, I’d love to know more about this.
Hey Chad,

I’ve come to your blog a couple of times now and always find some good reads. This is no different. Very timely piece, not much into social marketing myself I know about a lot of these sites but really haven’t spent time getting to know any in depth. You’re the 2nd or 3rd person I’ve “heard” talking about this subject so I guess if we see smoke then there must be a fire starting some place. Thanks for the advice. I’m off to check out some more of your writing–that piece about “You Don’t Need Google To Make Money Online” is calling my name. Keep the goods coming, I’ll be back for more.

This holds true. There is always going to be some type of competition BUT I think depending on the Google Algo is very risky. With all of the changes they have been doing recently it really does not make any sense.
You can get wacked at any second…trust me I know.
I think building out your brand is a much better strategy because that is something no algo can take from you.

I’ve kept Facebook for myself and my personal use, but do not use it for business. It’s always seems a little too cumbersome for me and doesn’t really get the point of the business across, it’s a popularity contest when I’m trying to offer a good service, is it too harsh for me to say, all sparkle and not enough substance?
Social marketing, FB for businesses is a must for most but I highly agree with the statement “never put your eggs in one basket.” They unfortunately will rot way to quickly!
There’s always fight in internet marketing world. And do it right, especially well-organic materials, you’re not easily swept away. Thank you very much for a great piece of advice.
All the best,
Joseph

Very interesting read. I agree with you that looking for shortcuts and ways to fool the search engines wont get you very far. You might make some money in the short run but it is not a sustainable business model. If you lay a good foundation for you website and focus on providing value to visitors, you will ultimately get value back twofold.
Don’t put your eggs in one basket ., I really liked the way you put it bro, and thats so true too.
